Corn planting done; soybeans at 2/3 planted

The first full week of May was slightly warmer than average. During the week, farmers in most parts of Iowa were able to finish up most corn planting, and soybean planting progress made significant gains. Crops are emerging across Iowa, and in general appear to be in good shape. Hard frost that struck the first two days of May have had little apparent lasting effect in most parts of Iowa. However, field crop specialist Mike White reports some damage to emerging grape flower buds.
