Degree Day Information for Iowa |

Wet, warm weather brings good and badThe first full week of June brought rains totaling from one to eight inches to Iowa fields. The rain, coupled with temperatures above normal, resulted in corn and soybean that is greening up and rapidly growing, along with the weeds. Soilborne disease problems have caused stand problems in some fields, with water molds like Phytophthora remaining a threat to soybean. The first cutting of alfalfa is between one third and two thirds complete across the state, but in many fields baling has been delayed because of the rain.
