All in all, a good season...so far

Crop development progressed nicely throughout Iowa last week. A slight return to more normal temperatures, coupled with sunshine and generally favorable moisture has corn, soybean, and forage crops all doing well. On July 4, I saw my first full fields of corn tasseling, with one silked in southwest Iowa.

Many producers that did have problems with delayed applications leading to big weeds have wrestled them back under control in areas where I was traveling. More sunshine, and normal temperatures and rainfall are on everyone's July wish list.
