Ultrasonic Pest Control Claims Challenged by FTCThis article was published originally on 4/15/1992
The Federal Trade Commission has charged Sonic Technology Products, Inc., Grass Valley, California, with making false and unsubstantiated promotional claims for its ultrasonic devices called "PestChaser" and "Pestrepeller."The devices do not, FTC said, eliminate rodent and flea infestations in the home, as claimed. Two officers of the company also were cited. FTC said the complaint is not a finding or ruling that the company has violated the law, but that if the complaint is upheld in a formal hearing the agency could prohibit the claims.-- Adapted from Pesticide Toxic Chemical News, March 11, 1992.
