Linden
The Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association has chosen Greenspire Littleleaf Linden (Tilia cordata 'Greenspire') as the Tree of the Year for 1998. Greenspire Littleleaf Linden is a medium sized tree, reaching 40 to 50 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide at maturity. Greenspire maintains a formal, pyramidal habit with dense, dark green foliage even in difficult landscape situations. The heart-shaped foliage emerges a lustrous, dark green changing to yellow or yellow-green in fall. Greenspire Littleleaf Linden makes an excellent shade tree requiring little maintenance in the landscape.
