Iowa Emerald Ash Borer Task ForceThis article was published originally on 5/14/2004
In reference to last week's Horticulture and Home Pest News article on the emerald ash borer, there is a multi disciplinary task force assembled to determine if the emerald ash borer is in Iowa. Mark Shour, Iowa State University extension entomologist, and Ryan Holl, Iowa State University graduate student worker, will join with Iowa DNR-Forestry's Steve Pennington, and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship nursery inspectors during the summer 2004 to survey Iowa for this insect. New business developments, established ash trees, new housing developments, landscape plant nurseries, and sawmills will be visited in the effort. Horticulture and Home Pest News will report their findings this fall.
