Emerald Ash Borer Quarantine Established in Eastern Iowa

This article was published originally on 11/1/2013

Officials with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) announced on November 1, 2013 that a quarantine of twenty-five eastern Iowa counties has been issued to help prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer (EAB).  EAB has been confirmed in 4 locations in Iowa (counties outlined in red in the map below: Allamakee, Cedar, Jefferson, Des Moines)

The quarantine prohibits the movement from quarantine areas of all unprocessed ash, such as hardwood firewood, ash logs, ash trees for planting, green ash lumber or brush. Federal and State certification is required to move regulated articles from quarantine areas.
