The industry continues to market prepackage mixtures of herbicides that are also available as individual products. There are several reasons that a prepackage mixture may be appropriate for use including the formulation of the prepackage mixture and the convenience, which is likely most important to growers. Also growers handle fewer herbicide containers and as the components of prepackage mixtures are premeasured, there is less risk of measuring errors.

There are, however, several potential limitations to prepackage mixtures. In specific fields, the ratio of products included in the mixture may not be appropriate. Growers who tank mix the components can adjust the rates to the conditions of the specific field. Further, prepackage mixtures may be more expensive than purchasing the separate components.
