Individuals preparing for the certified crop advisor exams requested in-depth training assistance. In response, 13 ISU extension specialists recorded 22 hours of videotape that cover the four competency areas on the exam. After viewing the tapes, participants attend four evening recitation sessions offered via the Iowa Communications Network. The recitation sessions feature interactive training with state extension specialists and local training with the field specialists.

Of the 110 participants, 70 percent passed both the Iowa and national examinations. The success rate for all individuals who took both examinations was 49 percent.
