Soybean cyst nematode poster available
|
Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is a major cause of limited soybean production in Iowa and the upper Midwest. This color poster (actual size, 18 by 24 inches) will help producers make early identification of SCN infestations, when population densities are low, which is critical to successful integrated management of this pest. Symptoms of SCN infection may not be apparent in the above-ground parts of soybean plants for several years following introduction of the nematode into the field. The poster illustrates how to properly collect soil samples to test for SCN, and visually check for the presence of SCN females on soybean roots. Single copies of the poster are free, except for the cost of shipping and handling. Additional copies are $1 per poster. To order, contact the ISU Extension Distribution Center, 119 Kooser Drive, Iowa State University, Ames, IA 50011; 515-294-5247. Ask for the poster, Soybean Cyst Nematode, IPM-47. Development and production of the SCN poster was supported, in part, by the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board and the Agribusiness Association of Iowa.
