Iowa State University Extension is a sponsor of an upcoming conference on bargaining. CLOUT, the Cooperation and Linking Offer Unbeatable Transactions conference, is set for March 16 and 17 on the ISU campus in Ames, Iowa. Information on the conference can be found online or call 515-284-2852.
Sessions will focus on bargaining with most commodities represented. Keynoting the conference will be Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) who sponsored a bill in the House of Representatives to toughen the Agricultural Fair Practices Act. The bill protects farmers in bargaining groups from retribution. The conference will conclude with a presentation by Michael Cook, an agricultural economist who heads the University of Missouri’s cooperative leadership program. He was CEO of Rice Growers Association of California.
In addition to ISU Extension, the conference is supported by Successful Farming magazine, National Farmers Organization, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives.
