NPKnowledge is a new Web site at http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/NPKnowledge/ intended for farmers, crop consultants, retail dealers, and others who want to learn more about crop, lawn, and garden nutrient uses and their possible environmental effects, and best management practices. The Web site includes a new program that provides current soil temperatures and a 6- to 10-day forecast for air temperatures. This information can be used for making decisions about fall application of anhydrous ammonia.
NPKnowledge is the result of many partners (see Web site for a listing) working together to provide up-to-date, research-based information regarding the management of crop nutrients and soils for water quality. Funding for this site is provided by the College of Agriculture and ISU Extension Service and by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources through a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
