The second of two special tours for ag professionals is scheduled for Friday July 12 at the Northeast Research Farm near Nashua. The tour will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Extension field specialists in crops and Ken Pecinovsky, farm superintendent, will host the tour. Topics for discussion include observations and experiences related to crop growth and development, soil fertility, and pest management problems as they develop across the area; a review of the various research projects underway on the farm; and a discussion of some of the new technologies that are or soon will be available.
The Northeast Research Farm is located 1 mile south and 1.5 miles west of Nashua. Because of road construction detours on Highway 218, use B60 west of Nashua. Take Windfall Avenue south 1 mile and then back east 0.5 mile on 290th St. Contact your county extension office or the Northeast Research Farm at (641) 435-4864 for further details.
These tours are organized by the Northeast Iowa Ag Experimental Association, which owns the farm. A $10 registration fee will be charged at the door ($25 for CCA credits).
