School IPM Training March 2004
A training was held in March of 2004. Here is the the report from that training, from the North Central IPM Center's Connection newsletter.
School Athletic Field IPM Pilot Project

The Mt. Ayr athletic field was part of the turfgrass management project.
A pilot project involving implementation of integrated pest management principles in an outdoor setting was conducted during 2004 and 2005. The project was conducted by Iowa State University Extension personnel and funded by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
One goal of this project was to advise school grounds managers on use of cultural, fertilizer and pesticide tools for management of turfgrasses on athletic fields and general areas.
A Summary Report of the project is available along with the following documents:
Checklist of Pest Prevention Items (Checklist of Pest Prevention Items for School Staff.pdf)
This checklist provides school staff with ideas of improvements that can be made to the building and daily operations to prevent pest problems. Prevention is the key to effective, least-hazardous pest management in school facilities.

This document is a request for proposal for integrated pest management services for a K-12 public school. It was created by West Des Moines Community School District, West Des Moines, Iowa. It has been reviewed by Dr. Albert Greene of the U.S.General Services Administration, Washington, DC, and Dr. Mark Shour of the Iowa State University, Ames, IA.
