High school students from across Iowa are invited to compete and showcase their scouting abilities in corn and soybean on August 5 at the Iowa State University Extension Farm. The competition will be a one day event with both indoor and outdoor components. The theme for this years competition is Crop Scouting Innovations. Monetary prizes will be awarded to winners. "On July 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at ISU’s FEEL Farm near Boone, farmers, agronomists and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to hear from experts who will present ways to use the '4Rs,' plus conservation practices to achieve maximum profitability, yields and environmental stewardship. The day of learning is free, with lunch provided, and attendees participating the whole day can receive six continuing education (CEU) credits toward their certified crop adviser (CCA) certification."
AMES, Iowa – Field Scouting Basics Workshop, an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach educational program, will be Monday, May 18, at the Field Extension Education Laboratory near Boone, Iowa. Designed for beginning-level crop scouts, the half-day course provides hands-on, in-field experience to crop scouts for the 2015 growing season.

The top two winning teams from Denison, Iowa and Clayton County, Iowa will compete against Nebraska and Indiana winning teams in the upcoming 2017 Regional Crop Scouting Competition in Indiana on Aug. 28.
