Weed Management Field Day--Harrison County Pilot
The Harrison County Herbicide Resistance Project features side-by-side comparison of 10 herbicide programs in both corn and soybeans. The Harrison County Pest Resistance Management Project team will hold a field day Wednesday, July 7. The event, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will include both herbicide and fungicide trials in soybeans at a farm southwest of Logan, operated by Larry Buss. This event is free and open to the public.
EPA Releases Guidance on Slowing Pest Resistance
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released two pesticide registration notices (PRNs) that impact how technology providers, crop advisers, and producers manage resistance. These documents are in addition to a new framework to address Bt resistance in corn rootworm released in 2016. These releases, which all went through public comment, provide guidance in managing resistance and support the strategies and goals of the Iowa Pest Resistance Management Program (IPRMP).

Iowa Pest Resistance Management Plan Unveiled
DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey, Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Associate Dean John Lawrence and Iowa farmer Larry Buss of Logan today announced the release of the Iowa Pest Resistance Management Plan. Version 1 of the IPRMP is an Iowa-specific plan that seeks to engage farmers on the issue of pest resistance management with the goal of keeping technology and tools such as pesticides, seed treatments and biotechnology products and native traits available and effective.
