The Iowa State University Integrated Pest Management program is introducing a YouTube channel that promotes efforts of Iowa State scientists and researchers who provide means-tested crop and pest management solutions to stakeholders in Iowa and beyond. At the Integrated Pest Management Iowa State University channel, viewers will find content detailing the efforts and reaches of the IPM program, best practices and information, as well as demonstrations on how to properly identify and evaluate various insect and disease pests and their impacts on field crops.

Crop Scouting Competition

The Iowa State University Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program is pleased to present the ninth annual Crop Scouting Competition for Iowa Youth. Middle school and high school students (those completing grades 7-12) from Iowa are invited to compete and showcase crop scouting abilities in corn and soybean. The competition will be a one day event focusing on outdoor learning. Previous sponsors include Corteva, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Independent Crop Consultants Association, ScoutPro, Iowa Certified Crop Advisors, and Environmental Tillage Systems.

Ghost Bees

Randall Cass and Ashley St Clair of the IPM4Bees group shot some varroa mite management videos and from those videos this Halloween special was created! Happy Hallowbees!

IPM4Bees Field Day

Ashley St. Clair and Randall Cass helped create this video showing the IPM4Bees field day: “Varroa mites are a honey bee parasite that spread disease and weaken hives. By monitoring mites, beekeepers can make informed management decisions for this pest.”
